BackgroundPepsiCo offers the world’s largest portfolio of billion-dollar food and beverage brands, including 18 product lines that each generates more than $1 billion in annual retail sales. The company reported more than $43 billion in 2008 revenues and employs 198,000 people.ChallengeAs the world’s second largest food and beverage company, PepsiCo’s Meeting Services department supports a range of management meetings, sales and incentive meetings, team building programs and other types of events. To facilitate global coordination and collaboration across one of its divisions, PepsiCo’s Meeting Services department planned the Spring 2010 PepsiCo Conference for managers to strategize on key initiatives and participate in educational workshops and team building. Meeting Services was interested in leveraging the company’s strong relationship with Avis to provide transportation for roughly 100 domestic and international attendees arriving and departing over multiple days and throughout the event. Their goal was to produce a highly successful conference with impeccable logistics at a lower cost. Like many large corporations that are optimizing their meeting spend, the company wanted to ensure high attendee satisfaction and personal service without incurring the high cost of traditional black car services and shuttle buses. The Meeting Services team also wanted to eliminate thousands of dollars in premiums that destination management companies often add to their fees for overseeing transportation and other contract event services. These premium fees are one of the biggest savings opportunities for corporate meetings and events.SolutionMeeting Services selected Avis Chauffeur Drive by WeDriveU to orchestrate ground transportation in Avis’ comfortable, low-mileage vehicles (Ford Edge, Ford Fusion and Buick Enclave). Leather interiors added a touch of elegance and comfort to their ride. WeDriveU chauffeurs provided meet and greets for guests, with special personal concierge services for international travelers. When schedules permitted, chauffeurs enhanced efficiency and fuel economy by transporting two to three passengers at a time for the 70 mile trip to two host hotels as well as offsite venues throughout the event.ResultsAvis Chauffeur Drive delivered more than 25% savings over traditional black car services and eliminated unnecessary add-on transportation management fees from the destination management company.
