Pumped-up for National Bike Month

Pumped-up for National Bike Month

In honor of National Bike Month, here are the fun ways WeDriveU clients are biking to work across the U.S.

Going the Distance – Sunnyvale, California

The mile marker award goes to these two-wheelers who saved enough in reserve to lift their bikes at the finish of a 3.5 hour ride from San Francisco to Sunnyvale.

Pictured at the Bay Area Bike to Work Day (#BTWD2017) festivities at LinkedIn’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA, Jim He (left) lives in San Francisco and takes the #RideIn commuter bus or Caltrain while friend Allen Hom (right) lives in Sunnyvale.

Along the way we spotted one of the biggest bike advocates we know, global transportation leader Michael Alba (left):

Thanks to Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and many organizations and volunteers behind this 23rd annual Bike to Work Day.

Biking Around the Bay State – Boston, Massachusetts

WeDriveU’s athenaCommutes team took part in the Bay State Bike Week kickoff at the Watertown, MA headquarters of client athenahealth. Here’s a look at how #athenaBikes and friends supported the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge.

Not even a little rain could dampen the spirits of this partnership between MassRIDES, MassBike, Montague Bikes, Park and Pedal and Landry’s Bicycles.

Wheeling Around – San Francisco, California

Cheered on by our client Lauren Bennett (center), Salesforce showed its #OhanaSpirit at Bike to Work Day events in the City by the Bay and sites across the country.

Turns out Astro’s a bike fan too.

Love to Ride – Oregon

At last check we spotted some of our favorite Portland-area companies (including the title sponsor of Portland Bike Share also known as BIKETOWN) climbing the leaderboard in Oregon’s 2017 Bike More Challenge. The initiative is presented by The Street Trust with support from organizations such as TriMet, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), Oregon Metro, Portland Pedal Power and Showers Pass.

Complete with witty marketing images like these, the Bike More Challenge website is one of our favorite examples of how to pump-up excitement for a bike challenge by celebrating why we “love to ride”:

#bikemore continues through 5/31, so hop on, register and ride at https://www.lovetoride.net/.

Riding With the Dutch Cycling Embassy – Cupertino, California

This month we’re finding inspiration everywhere we look, including a Dutch-inspired kickoff event hosted by Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and Joint Venture Silicon Valley, where team WeDriveU learned how the Dutch Cycling Embassy is inspiring the path to America’s biking capital.

Save the Date Coloradans

Mother Nature influenced our partners in the Rockies to plan their Bike to Work Day a bit later than events in our other regions. If you’re near Denver, mark your calendar for June 28th. Find details via the Way to Go website presented by the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and be sure to register at http://biketoworkday.us/.

Here’s to WeDriveU clients, partners and bicycle fans proving every day is Bike to Work Day. Whether you’re biking the first mile or every mile from home to the office, or taking advantage of our bike sharing options on campus, have fun enjoying this great, healthy way to commute.
